Adventures in Screenwriting

These are structured classes, analytical and practical, for anyone committed to writing for film and television — whether you’re a beginner or an experienced professional.  We’ll look at scripts, scenes and sequences, beginnings and endings — and everything in between — with a strong emphasis on character, and structure.  But I am emphatically not regurgitating hand-me down formulae or second hand ‘paradigms’.  I’ll set practical exercises and homework assignments to pose particular screenwriting challenges designed to significantly improve your work, and expand your vision.

In each session we’ll get to grips with certain key elements of screenwriting, and explore some of the common pitfalls and challenges — and unique opportunities — of this unusually demanding art.

  • Chris is the Mr. Miyagi of screenwriting, imparting the kind of knowledge you won’t find in any screenwriting book.  Chris’s teachings were invaluable in taking me from a novice screenwriter to selling my first screenplay. His knowledge of story is masterful.

    — Gavin D, Writer | Director

  • Chris Fallon is a generous, rigorous and emotionally intuitive teacher who supports his students to write bravely and take risks with their work. I remember the thrill of my first screenwriting classes with Chris. It felt like he was helping us crack a secret code, which of course he was.

    — Annalisa Dinnella
